Since our time in the Clare Valley and Barossa Valleys, and Hahndorf, we’ve been taking it very easy.
After Hahndorf we spent three days in Mount Barker (only a 20 minute drive from Hahndorf) going nowhere, and doing no sightseeing. We did watch a movie at the cinemas (Gladiator II, not bad actually), do some shopping, a haircut for me and a pedicure for Nicole. Having the caravan park an easy walk from the CBD was very convenient, so we took advantage. I also watched some cricket (until Australia fell in a complete heap) and some F1 motor racing.
We’re now in Normanville (around 80 km south of Adelaide on the Fleurieu Peninsula) for five nights, and plan to do very much the same sort of thing i.e. relax and do some walking, reading etc.
We’ve now got 40 days left before we arrive home. That will include 5 nights in Adelaide, 3 nights in Geelong and 4 nights in Melbourne over Christmas. We’ve also had to lock in nearly all of our accommodation through until we get home, given how busy places get over the Christmas / New Year break. We had originally thought we could just meander our way along the coastline at our leisure during this stage, until it dawned on us we’d picked the absolute worst time to be travelling through that region. Oh well …
We’ve done and seen a hell of a lot in the last 244 days, almost too much in a sense. When we try to think back to all the things we’ve done it does tend to blur together, but we’re so lucky to have had the chance to do this trip. So, we have one final push to make through the rest of SA, then the full Victorian coast, then up the NSW coast to Brisbane. While It will be good to be home when we get there, we’re certainly going to enjoy — and appreciate — these last 40 days.
