70: Perth Part 4 — Katelyn's visit

24 September 2024

From Westonia we headed back to Perth to meet up with Katelyn, whom we hadn’t seen since she’d visited us in Darwin back in May. Katelyn had been in WA for a bit over a week already with a friend, spending a lot of that time driving up to Exmouth to see the Whale Sharks.

It was fantastic to see her again.

We had arranged a unit to stay at in east Perth, which was very nice and in a great location. The property owners also did us a huge favour by letting us park the motorhome at their base, because it was 2 hours street parking on weekdays where we were staying and so we couldn’t leave it on the road.

Kings Park

On one of the days, Nicole and I visited Kings Park near the centre of Perth while Katelyn had a well-earned sleep in. The weather for our entire stay in Perth was magnificent; beautiful blue skies and temperature ranges of around 10 to 23 degrees. It made such a contrast to the terrible weather we had during our previous stint in Perth.

Kings Park is huge! We did our best to see as much as we could in 2.5 hours, with the city views and the flower displays as highlights.

Perth Zoo

After swinging back to the unit to collect Katelyn, we headed for Perth Zoo. The zoo was very busy, particularly with school groups. Unfortunately, whilst there were a lot of people there, they seemed to be a bit light on in the animal department. Admittedly we were there in the middle of the day which isn’t the best time of day to see the animals, however we were all a little disappointed at how few animals we actually got to see. But the weather was great!

Darren and Lansy Part 2

On another night we met up with Nicole’s ex-colleague Darren and his partner Lansy (from Perth Part 1 — People fame) at The Royal in East Perth for drinks and dinner. The location was very, very nice and the company even better. A really fun and pleasant evening. Thanks Darren and Lansy!

Perth CBD trip

Nicole and Katelyn had some alone time at Karrinyup Shopping Centre one day, involving pedicures amongst other bonding activities. On another day Katelyn and I headed into the Perth CBD to have a look around. This included having a look at the very historic and beautiful London Court (wonderful), plus me picking up my new iPhone (which took a little longer than planned). It was great to spend some time together.

After some relaxing days at the unit, it was time for Katelyn to head home. We said goodbye to Katelyn at the airport, knowing we won’t see her again until after Christmas. Thanks for visiting Katelyn and we’ll miss you!
