After our pleasant stay in Perenjori, we awoke to a foggy morning. Seeing as we hadn’t had great success wildflower hunting the day before, and that the weather wasn’t looking that promising, we decided to curtail our Wildflower Way journey to head back to the coast.

This more direct route to the coast took us through:
- Three Springs — Not much to see here apart from a grain silo and some street art, plus we received the warning from a local about soft ground (as mentioned in the previous ‘STUCK’ post).
- Carnamah — Once again, not much to see except for an old homestead just outside town.
- Eneabba — Even less to see, but sausage rolls were being served at the Roadhouse (see below).

We hit the coast at Greenhead, where we stopped for a walk around the very well done Three Bays Walkway and met a nice couple from Broken Hill.

Then it was a nice short drive down to Jurien Bay for a four-night stay — and where Nicole (not me, too cold) would ultimately swim with the Sea Lions. Watch this space for details …
We had been given some important culinary intelligence by the friends we met in Kalbarri that there was a good bakery just across the road from the Jurien Bay Tourist Park where we would be staying. So, as soon as we finished setting up, we … went to the bakery of course!
I had my second sausage roll for the day, however the first at Eneabba was shared with Nicole, so only one-and-a-half. Plus, very surprisingly, I’m currently more than a kilogram under the weight I was when we started, so I must be doing something right (or at least not horrendously wrong).
Anyway, enough of this chit chat, and on to the sausage roll scores.
Eneabba Roadhouse
The Roadhouse was pleasant enough and had a nice dining area. We mentioned we would eat our sausage roll in the dining area when Nicole ordered. Nicole was then handed a sausage roll in a paper bag. “We’d like to eat it here and share it, so could we please get it on a plate with a knife?” asked Nicole.
The fellow (owner we think) was VERY non-plussed about this request but did relent. Not a good start.
In terms of the sausage roll itself:
- Good pastry, but a bit too crunchy — maybe too long in the hot box
- Nice and long — so good value for money
- Quite greasy — not in a good way
- Reasonably good taste
- Overall, pretty good — but points deducted for grumpy service
- Rating — 7.7 out of 10.

Jurien Bay Bakery
- A very short walk + friendly service
- Quite visually appealing
- Good temperature
- A bit dry
- A bit lacking in taste
- Rating — 7.6 out of 10.
