Nicole and I have now made our way through South Australia and are on the verge of making our fourth border crossing for this trip — from South Australia into Victoria.
It’s a shame this border crossing hadn’t been front of mind when we shopped for groceries in Mount Gambier yesterday. We were being healthy and buying fresh food, fruit and vegetables; then I realised when we got home that we’d be crossing the border in two days time! Needless to say we’ve been eating plenty of fruit and veggies today.
The rest of South Australia was very enjoyable, particularly our stay in Adelaide. A highlight for us both was attending the Second Day of the Second Test between Australia and India at the Adelaide Oval. This had been on my sports watching bucket list for a long time, so it was nice to share this experience with Nicole — and 56,000 others. Nicole thoroughly enjoyed it too. Such a wonderful place to watch sport and all sorts of characters enjoying the cricket in their own special ways.

In return, I’ve agreed to watch a musical in Melbourne with Nicole (details to come).
Seeing Blue Lake (a volcanic, limestone crater filled with water) in Mount Gambier yesterday was also pretty amazing — just over the road from where we are staying as I write this, actually.

I’ve fully updated TravelMap, so you can get more details on our recent activities there.
We’re both currently suffering from ‘sightseeing fatigue’, a very apt phrase coined by Nicole. While that may sound like we aren’t enjoying ourselves, that isn’t the case at all. It means that we’ve been taking the ‘path of least resistance’ of late in our sightseeing endeavours. An example from yesterday was …
“The Naracoorte Caves are coming up here on the left. Should we stop to see them?”
“Let’s not bother and just get there so we can relax.”
Anyway, we’re now on Day 257 of 283 so our Big Lap trip will be over before we know it!
Until next time …
