27 November 2017
Today was, in comparison to the first few days of our trip, a bit of a non-event. We all slept in, headed out for breakfast, checked out of the Hilton, and then checked into a hotel only two blocks away — this being the staging area for our tour. We then did some shopping in the afternoon before heading back to the hotel. Here’s a photo from the top of the shopping centre.

At 7:00pm we met the tour group. Our CEO (Chief Entertainment Officer) is from New York and seems great. He’s only 23 and from the state of New York. He was a promising baseball pitcher who was on the verge of playing in the AAA league but developed shoulder problems and had to give the game away. As he said, pitching from the age of 4 just took its toll. He’s also offered to come and watch Star Wars with me in New York while we’re there, which would be cool!
We have on the tour (in addition to the three of us) 5 Australians, a lady born in Russia who has been living in England for a while, a lady from Wales, plus Fabio from Switzerland. Looks like a great group who we will be seeing a great deal of over the next 14 days.
Because they wouldn’t let us pay a supplement to have three of us in the one room, we chose to have one of us share with someone else, so as to avoid the additional cost of a whole extra room. Originally the plan was for Nicole to do this, however I have been allocated a room to share. I’m sitting here at 10:30pm with still no sight of my room buddy, so hopefully he doesn’t arrive at 2:00am.
Off to Yosemite tomorrow!
